Professional Tooth Cleaning (Scaling)

What is Tooth Scaling?
Why is it Important?
1. Prevents gum disease (gingivitis & periodontitis)
Reduces bad breath
2. Helps prevent tooth decay
3. Keeps gums healthy
4. Supports overall oral hygiene
What to Expect During the Procedure:
Step 1: Examination
The dentist or hygienist checks your mouth for signs of gum disease or plaque buildup.
Step 2: Scaling
An ultrasonic scaler or manual tools are used to gently remove plaque and tartar from teeth surfaces and below the gum line.
Step 3: Polishing
Your teeth are polished to remove surface stains and leave a smooth, clean finish.
Optional: Fluoride Treatment
To strengthen enamel and reduce sensitivity.
Is It Painful?
Most patients find scaling to be comfortable. For sensitive teeth or deeper cleaning, your dentist may recommend a local anesthetic to keep you relaxed.
Aftercare Tips
Brush and floss daily
Avoid staining foods for 24 hours (coffee, red wine, etc.)
Mild sensitivity is normal — use desensitizing toothpaste if needed
Follow-up regularly (every 6 months or as advised)
